"No Kill" Shelters

I once heard about a “no kill” shelter for animals, which means, they will take these pets in and treat them and not kill them or put them to sleep even if no one will adopt them, unlike the other shelters. However these “no kill” shelters get so crowded that many animals either don’t have a cage, or have to share cages; they are so over whelmed with animals that they animals can be lying in their own feces for days. Because of the overpopulation the shelters is low on supplies such as food, medicine, staff, and space. Some of the animals that come in injured aren’t able to get the proper treatment or drugs for pain, and they suffer in pain til their death. Animals go hungry, and stir crazy from being in cages all day long(this can cause them to become aggressive, and then not get adopted). Rarely do these shelters turn people away, but when they are extremely full they must, which then causes people to leave their animals on the side of the road, usually to get hit and killed by traffic. So they might be a “no kill” shelter, but by starving them, and caging them for months, and not treating them for pain, they are being left at these shelters to die a horrible and painful death.

I'm sorry this is how I feel.

I listened to a speech the other day, where the girl was trying to inform the audience about children living in poverty in other countries. She was trying to tell us what we could do to help these children; she informed us that we could donate money to other countries to help them, or we could sponsor a child like her. She was sponsoring a child who stayed at home with her mother and eight other brother and sisters their father was sometimes employed. I strongly disagreed with what she was saying, I agree that those children need help they shouldn’t have to live in those conditions. But why send money to a place where it might not go to what its suppose to go to, if the conditions are so bad and you can’t afford to feed, cloth, shelter and medicate your child why do you keep producing???? If we are going to help them maybe we should bring them over to our country where we can provide for them. I don’t want people to think that I am heartless, but there are people in our country who can’t have children, but can provide for them; and then you have people in other countries who know that can’t provide, but they figure they will get someone else to help them care for their children. It seriously breaks my heart that those kids have to suffer, because the women can’t keep their legs closed, maybe to help we should send condoms over.?????

Veil or No Veil?

I read an article for an English class that was about a Muslim woman who went and took her drivers license pictures with her Muslim veil on; so that the only thing that you could see was her eyes. This was allowed and she was not question because it was part of her culture. A couple of years later the women got a letter in the mail stating that she needed to come into her local DMV and re-take her picture for her driver’s licenses without her veil (a new policy), or they would terminate her licenses. The women was very upset and believed that she should not have to do such a thing, because of her culture not allowing women to be exposed to anyone except to their husbands. This new policy went into effect sometime after 9/11. So do we think that we should honor her values and let her continue to practice her beliefs and cultures, or do we make her follow our rules to protect our country?
I personal think because she is in our country and applying to drive on our roads, she should have to abide by our rules. Those rules are only in affect to make her and everyone else around her safe, so another incident like 9/11 never happens again. We have rules in this country for a reason and we all have to follow them no matter our color, age, or heritage as soon as we start bending the rules for one, we will be bending the rules for everyone and then what’s the point for rules.

**I mean honestly what does this picture show you? Just two eyes this could be anyone! What would happen if this driver’s license got into the wrong hands? I am surprised that they allowed her to take the first picture this way.

Indecent Exposure

I recently heard on the radio about a man who was charged with indecent exposure while in his own home, I was flabbergasted by this and had to listen to the rest of the story. A man woke up at 5:30 in the morning and went down stairs to make himself a pot of coffee in the in the privacy of his own home. While doing this a women happened to walk by with her child and peeked through the man’s window and noticed the man who was naked and decided she was defended and called the police. The police came out and charged the man with indecent exposure.
Are you kidding me!!! Is all I have to say, this man who pays a mortgage and taxes on this home should be allowed to wear whatever and how little he wants in his own home. The man was in the privacy of his own home and walking around naked no freaking big deal, that women wasted the police officers time in calling them out for a charge like that, they should be busy arresting drug dealers, drunk drivers, child molesters, thieves, and murders. I want to know what a women is doing walking her child at 530am. If any charges were being made it should have been for the women who was being a peeping tom, and looking into the man’s window. If that upset the women so much she shouldn’t have been looking into people’s windows, she had to be pretty close to the window to get a good look since it was probably dark at 5:30am. I strongly disagree with this charge, I would be very upset if someone was to control what I wore in the privacy of my own home.

Working for the Holidays!!!

I just recently found out that my part time job is going to be open on Thanksgiving day, which this will be the first time that the store will be open during this holiday (the only two days that it is closed is for Thanksgiving and Christmas day). I realize some stores need to be open like grocery stores and gas stations, but even then I always feel bad for those people who have to be there working and away from their family. I know there are people who do not celebrate holidays, so it doesn’t really matter to them it’s just another day to them and they probably get upset when things close down for a holiday that they don’t participate in. I personal think that the stores need to be closed so people can spend this time with their family, and did you ever notice that the movie theater is usually always open, I feel sorry for those people; can’t people just stay home for one day so everyone can be with their family and not have to work. It’s unfair for the gas stations and grocery stores that they have to be open, I think most of them are only open for a couple of hours and then close early, but still they should only at the most have to go in at the morning for 2 or 3 hours for those people who forgot items, or need to fill up their tanks to make that special trip (but honestly isn’t this stuff that you could have done the night before or days before?) . I am not happy with this new change at my company, and with being in the retail business I think other people would have to agree that working holidays already (labor day, 4th of July, New years day) it’s not fair to take yet another holiday away. Some Holidays should be mandatory off days!

Drunk Drivers

I have been against drinking and driver from day one, recently I watched an episode on Dr. Phil, Where it talked about the mother who drove down the opposite side of the rode and caused a collision killing 8 people including herself, her two children and her nieces, and 3 other victims. The show was talking about what we do with the criminals who cause the accidents; they were because of the fact that our prisons are so over populated when a drunk driver takes someone’s life while driving under the influence their sentence is for man slather not murder, which is a difference of 15 years compared to life in prison. Because we don’t have enough room in the jails, and we don’t want to pay to have them in their they are letting them have lesser jail time and doing things such as breath test to start your cars, and more check points. I personally think that if you committed a crime, such as driving under the influence you need to deal with the consequences and be punished. If you killed someone murder is murder you shouldn’t be able to get out early because there isn’t enough room in the jails or a lesser sentence because you didn’t know what you were doing because you were drunk.

Take Responsibility for your Actions

My topic this week isn’t really an argument, but it’s something that really pushes my buttons and I have to get it off my chest.
I don’t understand how you hit a parked car; I know it happens (It has happened to my car three times) I don’t understand how it happens. I have been driving for seven years now and never once hit a parked car, or ever hit another car period. What really amazes me is when the clumsy driver who runs into things that are not moving has the edacity to leave the scene of the crime; because that is exactly what it is now a crime scene because you have vandalized someone else’s property. You have just turned yourself into a criminal because you have left the scene of the crime. What is going through that persons mind before they up and leave the scene behind? I surely hope they were not thinking because they hit a nice luxury SUV that the other driver can afford to fix their car themselves. Because that is not justice or that might not be the case, they do not know the other drivers financial situations. I have always been raised that your actions have consequences and that you must take responsibility for your actions. People who cannot man up to their mistakes are cowards. The really ironic thing is when it happens on a college campus, the student thinks they are trying to make something of themselves by furthering their education and getting a degree; but in actuality they can’t take responsibility for their actions and they make someone else take care of cleaning up their mess, they are the same irresponsible child they were before they attend college and no piece of paper is going to change that.
So I guess what I am trying to say is I think it is so wrong and I see no reason for anyone to do this to anyone, but people do it all the time. I really wish someone who has done it (left the scene of the crime) could tell me why, what is their motive? I mean I know it would piss them off if someone turn around and did it to them. I have never done it to anyone and will never do it to, I have always been the victim……… Have you ??

Bride's Body Found on Her Wedding Day.

Annie Le, a graduate student in Yale’s pharmacology program, was 24 years old and was set to marry her high school sweet heart Jonathan on September 13th. However Annie disappeared on September 8th, she was last seen entering a medical research building. Yale University announced a $10,000 reward for anyone with information on her disappearance. Police found bloody clothing stored in a drop ceiling, they were not Le’s clothing, but police are still trying to determine who’s blood is on the clothing. September 15th the day Le is suppose to get married police discover her bloody body inside a wall, of the basement of the medical building where she was last seen. The medical research building is a secure area with security cameras everywhere, with access codes needed to enter different locations (the basement being one of the locations). Police have looked at more than 600 hours of video surveillance footage of those five days for clues to what could have happened to Le, they have also interviewed over 100 coworkers of Le’s . No one has been charged as of this time for the murder of Le, but they do have a person of interest, Yale University employee Raymond Clark. Clark who does work at the medical research building and has access to the basement, was brought in for questioning and sentenced with a search warrant for his home and body, he has been released for the time being. Police have no other leads at this time, they do not believe that this was random they think that there is a connection to Le and why she was murdered. This is an open case and is still being investigated since it just happened last week.
My heart goes out to Le’s family especially her fiancĂ©, I have a fiancĂ© as well and I plan on marrying my high school sweetheart too (his name happens to be Jonathan as well :/), but to plan that special day for so long, and then to find out the news that the person that you were suppose to spend the rest of your life with was murder on what was suppose to be your wedding day, that must be awful. I really don’t understand how this building which was suppose to be very secure and lock down, where you needed key cards to enter and cameras everywhere, how a camera couldn’t have caught something. When police reported that they found bloody clothing on September 12th I was wondering if this was going to be a case where a bride got cold feet and stage her own death and ran away, but three days later they did find her body.
